1. In 2002: Retired from teaching profession. Afterward continued teaching for one
year.@Live in Osaka. Walking on the mountains, tennis (though unable to
play now), swimming,
bicycle, and traveling are my hobbies. Recently have begun to paint pictures
in water colors.
2. SCHOOL DAYS: It was Mt. Hakusan (literally means white mountain) that I
first climbed. Climbed Mr. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan( 3776M) together with the
students from oversea who took part in the international work camp sponsered
by AFSC.
It stands for American Friends Service Committee, which used to hold an
internarional
work camp every year in Japan.@
3. TWENTIES: Got married in the latter half of my twenties. Began to climb
mountains with my wife.
4. THIRTIES: unable to go to mountains because of child raising.
5. FORTIES to the first half of FIFTIES: Continued to climb
with my wife after a long interval as our children got old enough to take
care of themselves.
We climbed many mountains in Japan, among which the highest is Mr. Yari
(Mt. Spear),
3180M. We went to Chamonix from where we walked to Montenvers(1913M), Lac
Blanc
(2352M), Refuge des Cosmique(3613M). I climbed Mont Blanc.
6. Latter half of FIFTIES to the RETIREMENT: Climbed
alone. Left home the night before holiday by car to stand on the summit next day and
returned home late at night. Having two days's holidays, stayed at a hut
on the mountain.
Never late or absent from work. It was shortly before my retirement when I climbed Mt.
Kilimanjaro.
7. After RETIREMENT: Enjoy walking on the mountains with my friend of
school days or alone.
8. WHAT I AIM AT?: To cover 100 selected mounntains in Japan, walk
with my wife again and walk with my grandchildren, and walk on the mountains
in foreign
countries, etc.
